Local Government Commitment to Advancing Land Use Sustainability: The Case of Indonesia

Description

This Jurisdictional Exchange Network (JEN) webinar brought examples from East Kalimantan province and Musi Banyuasin district in Indonesia on how the local governments had translated their commitments to sustainable land use into local regulations and multi-stakeholder platforms. Representatives from Nestlé and Sedagho Siak, a coalition of CSOs in Siak district, drew from their experiences in jurisdictional engagement to showcase the key importance of local government commitments to provide an umbrella for work towards sustainable land use.

These stories from the ground strengthened findings from a recent study by TFA and Indonesia’s Sustainable Districts Association LTKL, who organised the webinar, on local governments’ commitments for sustainable land use in 53 districts, provinces, and states in Indonesia and Malaysia.
