Sustainable Jurisdictions Indicators
This factsheet from Indonesia’s National Development Agency (Bappenas) presents the recently launched Sustainable Jurisdictions Indicators. These indicators measure the commitment and progress of commodity-producing districts in Indonesia towards sustainable and inclusive land use. Developed based on Indonesia’s legal frameworks and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the 23 indicators are grouped into four pillars: environmental, social, economic, and governance.
Bappenas expects these indicators will support the use of JA for sustainable commodity production as a strategy in the Indonesia Mid-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) for 2020-2024 and will provide reliable data for potential investors and export destination countries. The indicators were developed with partners including Indonesia’s Sustainable Districts Association Lingkar Temu Kabupaten Lestari (LTKL) and the European Forest Institute’s KAMI project.
The districts that have committed to implementing the indicators include Aceh Tamiang in Aceh, Siak in Riau, Sanggau and Kapuas Hulu in West Kalimantan, Seruyan in Central Kalimantan, East Kutai in East Kalimantan, and Sigi in Central Sulawesi. The data from the districts will be presented in a platform managed by state-owned company, PT Surveyor Indonesia.
