Summary: Cacao, Forests and Diversity Agreement, Peru
In end May 2021, the Cacao, Forests, and Diversity Agreement in Peru was launched by a coalition comprising the Government of Peru, industry associations and companies, and civil society organisations, supported by the Tropical Forest Alliance. The coalition plans to define a shared short, medium and long-term agenda to design, implement, and monitor actions that will enable deforestation-free cocoa production across the country by 2025. The coalition also commits to promoting intensification practices, restoration of degraded areas, and incentive packages for small-scale producers.
