Perspectives on Progress: Annual Report 2023
Challenges and Insights on the Way to Forest Positive
This annual report from the Consumer Goods Forum Forest Positive Coalition of Action (CGF FPCoA) highlights the collective progress, challenges faced and insights gained in year three of implementing the group’s Theory of Change. In line with the Theory of Change the report is broken down into two sections focusing efforts towards their supply chain transparency, and collective action in production landscapes, where insights are shared from a portfolio of 23 landscape initiatives.
Case studies shared in the report show how involvement in landscape initiatives has helped the Coalition’s members deliver on their climate, nature and people commitments and how companies can collaborate with on-the-ground stakeholders to address systemic barriers to deforestation and conversion-free commodity production. These case studies include the soy and beef Cerrado Biome initiative, Tocantins, Brazil, the Sabah Landscape Initiative, Malaysia and the Sustainable Peatland and Forest Management plan, Siak, Indonesia. The report also shares metrics on the successes of the Coalition’s action in the portfolio of initiatives. For example, to date, the Coalition has supported 18,000 smallholders across 1,000 communities worldwide, through landscape-level action.
Launched in 2020, the Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) Forest Positive Coalition of Action is a CEO-led initiative representing 21 CGF member companies who are committed to leveraging collective action and accelerating systemic efforts to remove deforestation, forest degradation and conversion from key commodity supply chains.
