Natural Climate Solutions: Unlocking Private Sector Finance for Sustainable Landscape Management

The World Bank’s Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) and BioCarbon Fund Initiative for Sustainable Forest Landscapes (ISFL) hosted a virtual workshop focused on opportunities to partner with the private sector to drive natural climate solutions. The event bought together 900 thought leaders, government representatives, and members of the private sector from more than 50 countries.

The report defines the key takeaways, challenges, and next steps for expanding private sector engagement in natural climate solutions, in the 3 areas of:

  • Climate Finance, including the financing instruments and jurisdictional approaches that facilitate private sector engagement in climate finance;
  • Enabling Environment, namely the enabling conditions to involve the private sector and the importance of public-private sector collaboration;
  • Supply Chains, specifically the efforts of companies and governments to eliminate deforestation from the production of agricultural commodities and other industrial activities.
