Cacao Libre de Deforestación en Tocache: Análisis de Experiencias Promisorias
The report explores how the implementation of the Cocoa, Forests and Diversity Agreement in Peru and jurisdictional initiative in Tocache in San Martin department could help cocoa producers comply with buyers’ deforestation-free due diligence requirements.
The study found that local and regional governments, companies, producer associations, and CSOs are interested in sustainable production of cocoa. To achieve jurisdictional transformation, coordination of different actors as well as incentives, such as access to financing and international markets, better prices, and technical assistance are needed.
